My goal is to live a life of purpose and passion. Early in my career, I sought out a life that would provide and serve the needs of my family. I was blessed to be placed in a corporate position that allowed me to provide for my family while also developing my numerous skills. Now I want to share my journey with you. So, let’s start at the beginning-
In college, I studied Social Work, it taught me the value of building relationships, gathering data, and following consistent process to solve problems. Though my time in the field of social work was limited, the skills and methods are still used in my work today.
After graduating college, I had two jobs, one was in social work and one was in insurance. I ended up staying in the insurance industry. I called it home for 30 years and enjoyed the journey. I describe my career as phenomenal because the of the skills I grew, the places I traveled, the people who became lifelong friends and the financial stability it afforded me.
I didn’t just survive in corporate America, I thrived in it. I led teams, departments, created capabilities, mentored leaders, solved problems, trained others and took part in major transformational programs. I enjoyed being an early adopter of change and working as a change agent. Sometimes we tried a “toe in the water strategy” as an old boss of mine used to say. Other times, we just dove right in, rolled up our sleeves and got to it. There was always a new challenge to deal with.
One day I was presented at a crossroad. I found myself choosing to either continue the path I was on or to follow the calling that had been slowly surfacing for years. As a lifelong learner, I have had many amazing opportunities for growth. These experiences sometimes were formal trainings like becoming a Six Sigma Black Belt. However, much of the learning came from experiences, roles and those around me. A few years ago, I was encouraged to document the calling in my heart, I created my purpose statement. It guides me and has been a wonderful light on my journey when things seemed dark.
This new journey began as I intentionally reconnected to my life’s purpose. My purpose can be summarized by saying this: I am a problem solver and leader. I use my gifts of support, leadership, people skills and problem solving to guide and inspire others on their journey for greatness through living a life of significance in business and personal matters.
Whether we connect through non-profit consulting, real estate or as your trusted advisor and insurance agent; a heartfelt "Thank you" for being part of my story. We are destined for greatness.
Warm regards,
Marianne
